Calling all Ottawa mountain bikers! Join the OMBA Group Ride at Camp Fortune!
Calling all thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts! Dust off your mountain bike and get ready for an epic ride under the stars with the Ottawa Mountain Bike Association (OMBA). They're hosting a group ride at Camp Fortune in Chelsea, Quebec, and it's the perfect opportunity to explore some of the best trails the region has to offer, connect with fellow riders, and push your limits (safely, of course!).

Light Up the Night!

One thing to remember –  lights are mandatory for this ride! It kicks off at 6:15 pm and lasts for two glorious hours.  Meeting point is at the Camp Fortune upper parking lot by the main lodge (link in the post). Don't worry, it'll be a no-drop ride, so everyone can enjoy the scenery and camaraderie at their own pace.

Finding Your Flow

Whether you're a seasoned rider or just getting started, there's a group for you.  Here's a breakdown:

  • C Group (Intermediate): Led by Ilya, this group is perfect for riders who are comfortable on their bikes and can handle some climbing (think 250m with breaks). Trails will include Lesser Evil, Brian's/Social, Junior, CBC, Sunset, Salamander, and Switchback. This is a great way to get acquainted with Camp Fortune if you're not a complete beginner, but still want to challenge yourself.
  • B Group (Advanced): Tim will be leading this group, and the trails will be chosen on the day of the ride based on the riders' abilities and interests.  Get ready to conquer some black diamond trails and maintain a good pace. Be prepared to climb 350m with short breaks.
  • A Group (Expert): Calling all adrenaline junkies! This self-organized group will tackle double black diamond trails based on the riders' preferences. Expect a fast pace and the ability to conquer 500m of elevation with minimal breaks.

Be Prepared to Ride!

No matter which group you choose, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Safety First!  Sign the electronic waiver beforehand (link included in the post) and make sure you have your helmet, hydration pack, basic tools, a spare tube, pump or CO2 inflator, and some knowledge about how to fix your bike on the go.
  • Trail Access: You'll need a daily or seasonal trail pass to ride at Camp Fortune (not included in the group ride).

Get Ready for an Epic Adventure!

This group ride is a fantastic opportunity to experience the magic of Camp Fortune at night, meet fellow mountain bike enthusiasts, and push your limits in a supportive environment. So, what are you waiting for?  Register today and get ready for an unforgettable ride!
